So this news will come as a surprise to absolutely nobody, but Disney and Lucasfilm apparently want multiple young Han Solo movies. Go ahead; pick yourself up off the floor. The news comes from The New York Daily News who claim that star Alden Ehrenreich has signed a multi-picture deal to play the rebellious rogue in a likely trilogy. An insider is quoted as saying...
There is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential. Given that Han’s early adventures do not need to be tied to the Empire, it leaves story lines open with the opportunity to really give fans something different. They can explore new galaxies and crazy creatures and bring in a wide array of new characters.”
Well yeah, they COULD do movies that have nothing to do with the Empire, or they could just tie him into the continuity even closer. His rumored appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story would be one way to go about it, and could count against his contractual appearances.
Again, no shocker here. We can expect Disney to think franchise with everything they do that's Star Wars (or Indiana Jones) related. The Han Solo movie doesn't arrive until May 25th 2018 with Phil Lord and Chris Miller at the helm, and we know their franchise track record is pretty solid.
