Like a certain dark knight of Gotham City, there are multiple sides to Ben Affleck. There's his blockbuster side, the guy who plays Batman in Justice League; there's the award-winning director of movies such as Argo and The Town; and then there's the guy who stars in movies such as The Accountant, which are about stretching his acting muscles.
A new trailer for the film has dropped, and like the first one it arrives while there's a lot of attention focused on his superhero work. Warner Bros. isn't stupid; they know it's a good idea to strike while people are talking about the Justice League trailer as a means of connecting Affleck to both. The film is directed by Gavin O'Connor (Warrior) and co-stars Anna Kendrick, Jon Bernthal, John Lithgow. J.K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson (who played Amanda Waller on Arrow), with Affleck playing an OCD math genius who is deadly good with numbers and guns. Here's the synopsis:
Christian Wolff (Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.
The Accountant hits theaters on October 14th.
