Disney's Live-Action 'The Nutcracker' Casts Mackenzie Foy In Lead Role
She imprinted on Taylor Lautner in two Twilight movies, was haunted in James Wan's The Conjuring, and was the "Murph" who helped Matthew McConaughey save humanity in Interstellar. Now Mackenzie Foy will get to hang out with wooden soldiers and angry mice in Disney's live-action The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.
Foy joins famed dancer Misty Copeland who will be the lead ballerina in the Lasse Hallstrom-directed film, based on E.T.A. Hoffman's 1816 short story about a young girl whose dolls, including a brave nutcracker, come to life and protect her from the evil Mouse King. It's unclear how closely this adaptation will stick to the source material, though, especially with the change in title.
Disney is probably going to try and fill the cast with as many big names as possible, just as they did with Into the Woods which went on to be a huge hit. [Variety]
