If you're going to do a TV series based on the X-Men, centering it on Legion, Charles Xavier's schizophrenic, Omega-level son David, is probably the weirdest path to take. And yet that's what FX and showrunner Noah Hawley (Fargo) are doing with Legion, and the first footage has been revealed in a new trailer.
Starring Dan Stevens (The Guest) as David Haller, the son of Xavier and Gabrielle Haller (who most X-Men fans may not even remember), the series takes us into his life as a troubled mutant suffering from mental illness. In and out of psychiatric wards his entire life, David must come to grips with the possibility that the voices and visions he thought were in his head may actually be real. Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart, Rachel Keller, Katie Aselton, and Hamish Linklater co-star.
Legion debuts on FX early next year for an 8-episode season.
