Amazon's 'Jack Ryan' Series With John Krasinski Is A Go
So the last attempt by Paramount to revive Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan franchise with 'Shadow Recruit' didn't really go anywhere, even with Chris Pine as the popular CIA analyst. We should give credit that another ill-fated movie wasn't forced into production anyway just to keep the brand alive, instead Paramount went in a different direction. A few months ago John Krasinski boarded a potential Jack Ryan series for Amazon, and now it's been given a full series order.
THR reports the new 10-episode series is a go with Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel) and Graham Roland (Almost Human) writing the scripts and developing. This also marks a return to series TV for Krasinski after years as Jim on NBC's The Office. Not exactly the kind of role that would peg him as an obvious choice for this, but he proved his tough guy mettle in Michael Bay's 13 Hours earlier this year.
Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Pine played the character to varying degrees of success, and it will be interesting to see if Krasinkski's small-screen version clicks with audiences. Expect Jack Ryan to hit Amazon next year.
