This will also mark the first major feature role for Gaga, who recently received an Emmy nomination for her work on American Horror Story: Hotel. She's been rumored for

Gaga was excited about the news, as you might expect...

It's been a long, hard road for this version of A Star is Born. Clint Eastwood had been developing the project the longest, with Beyonce and a revolving door of co-stars (including Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio) circling it at different points. Cooper  got involved not long before Eastwood dropped out, opening the door for him to take over as director. This would be the fourth major production of A Star is Born, which tells the familiar story of an aspiring actress who gets her shot at fame with the help of a washed-up alcoholic actor.

This is a big move for Gaga, who has built her acting career up slowly with roles in Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
