Ben Affleck Directing And Starring In Agatha Christie's 'Witness For The Prosecution'
Ben Affleck's three directorial efforts thus far, Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and Argo have each seen him improve dramatically behind the camera. The last two of those films put him in the thick of the awards season, and there's a good chance his upcoming film Live by Night will be lauded just as well. Whenever he finds time to break away from the DCU it's a big deal, and now we know his next project will be an adaptation of a novel by the great mystery author, Agatha Christie.
Affleck will direct and star in an adaptation of Witness for the Prosecution, with his buddy Matt Damon on board to produce. The story, previously adapted by Billy Wilder in an Oscar-nominated 1957 movie, centers on a man accused of the murder of a woman who suddenly left him her fortune. Christopher Keyser, a writer on Party of Five, is penning the screenplay.
So this is already promising but we could be waiting a while as Affleck needs to wrap up commitments on Live by Night, then move on to directing his solo Batman movie. [Deadline]
