Ben Affleck Wasn't Joking, Deathstroke Is Solo Batman Movie Villain
Turns out Ben Affleck wasn't jerking us around earlier today when he suddenly dropped footage of DC villain Deathstroke, in what appeared to be filming from Justice League. But it wasn't that; instead it was a tease for the upcoming solo Batman movie Affleck will be directing that we now know will feature Deathstroke as the main villain.
The Wrap confirms the news, saying they got the info from a source close to the project. They don't have much information beyond that, such as if Deathstroke will pop up in the currently-shooting Justice League first, or who could be playing him.
Deathstroke is one of the few DC villains I think is worth a hill of beans. He was created in 1980 by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, and is billed as DC's most deadly assassin. Not only is he physically gifted and super strong, but he's capable of using up to 90% of his brain capacity, making him a tactical genius. He's faced most of DC's heroes but seems to have a special dislike for Batman and Green Arrow. He appeared on CW's Arrow played by Manu Bennett, and it was suspected Deathstroke was headed for the big screen when producer Marc Guggenheim said he wouldn't be back on the series because he was“tied up in another DC project.”
So far there's no hard release date for Affleck's film but Warner Bros. has open slots on October 5th 2018 and November 1st 2019.
