Bryan Singer Says 'Legion' Has Ties To Future X-Men Movies

The future of 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise is as hard to hold as a phased Kitty Pryde, but perhaps things are getting a bit clearer. After the lukewarm response to X-Men: Apocalypse, the only movies in the works are The Wolverine 3, Deadpool 2, New Mutants, and presumably Gambit. However there's also a burgeoning TV universe with FX's Legion and another series announced in July.

While the early word was that the big and small screen franchises would be separate, Bryan Singer is now teasing something else. While at the Edinburgh Television Festival, Singer says Legion, which stars Dan Stevens as the all-powerful but schizophrenic son of Charles Xavier, “will relate to future X-Men movies" through a “really ambitious and fun and very unique storyline."  This other X-Men series is included in this, as well. He added that Legion is "part of the X-Men universe, but when you watched it, you wouldn’t have to label it, it could exist completely on its own.”

So what does that mean? How do they connect? We may not know for some time, but what it sounds like is they'll be doing something similar to Marvel's TV shows which are in the MCU without interfering in the movies. [THR]
