Crackle's 'Snatch' TV Series To Star Rupert Grint

With gangsters named Brick Top, Bullet Tooth Tony, Franky "Four Fingers" and Boris the Blade, Guy Ritchie's sophomore film Snatch was not your typical crime movie. This is the one where Brad Pitt mumbled his way through a role as an Irish boxer known for battling gypsies. It was a weird film that helped establish Richie's somewhat chaotic style, later seen in Sherlock Holmes, Rocknrolla, and others. Now Snatch is becoming a 10-episode TV series on Crackle, and Rupert Grint is taking the lead role.

Grint, who will forever just be Ron Weasley to most people, will play new character Charlie Cavendish, described as “dynamic, frustratingly chaotic, and utterly posh.” He'll be joined by Dougray Scott as Vic Hill and Ed Westwick as Sonny Castillo. The story will focus on a group of "twenty-something, up-and-coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime. The boys must quickly learn to navigate the treacherous waters of London’s underworld as rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters, and local villains descend."

Based on that it sounds a lot like the movie, but apparently there will be no connection to it. Or at least we haven't heard of anybody reprising their roles. So chances are slim that we'll see Pitt, Jason Statham, Lennie James, Benicio Del Toro, or Vinnie Jones, although one never never knows.

Filming begins next week with Nick Renton directing, and we can expect to see the series debut in 2017.
