Let's be honest, by now you already have a good idea whether a Rob Zombie movie is for you. He has an appreciation for the macabre unlike any other director out there, and his latest film 31 looks to follow in the footsteps of The Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses, and Lords of Salem, but not so much the Halloween remake which nobody seemed to care for.
And this trailer is pure Zombie, amounting to a string of bizarre, morbid images rather than anything remotely coherent. Sheri Moon Zombie and the reliably creepy Malcom McDowell star in the film about carnival workers kidnapped and forced to play a deadly Saw-like game of life and death. I'll say this, Rob and Sheri seem like the most perfect couple ever. Good thing they found one another.
31 debuted at Sundance earlier this year and I don't remember a lot of chatter about it when other Midnight movies stirred up buzz. We'll see just how twisted this really is when the film opens October 21st.
