Angelina Jolie Eyes War Drama 'Shoot Like A Girl'

Angelina Jolie's been in the news lately for stuff that has nothing to do with her career, so it's good to get an update that doesn't involve her personal life. While she recently dropped out of Kenneth Branagh's Murder On the Orient Express remake (He's recovered quite nicely), Jolie isn't staying out of the game for long and has found her next major role.

Jolie may be headed back to a war setting for Shoot Like a Girl, an adaptation of Air Force Major Mary Jennings Hegar's upcoming memoir.  Frank Walker is adapting the script which center on Hegar's three tours in Afghanistan, which earned her the Purple Heart and a Distinguished Flying Cross, plus her work to get female soldiers serving in combat roles alongside their male counterparts.

No word on who will direct but the plan is get Jolie signed first and the rest should fall into place for a speedy production. I'm just glad to see her in front of the camera for something other than a vanity project like By the Sea or a fairy tale like Maleficent. [Deadline]
