As of right now he's still 007 and there's no indication that he's going anywhere yet, despite his complaints about how much it sucks, but if you needed assurances he's still the producers' top pick then now you have it.
Franchise exec-producer Callum McDougall told BBC Radio [via Deadline], “We love Daniel. We would love Daniel to return as Bond. Without any question he is absolutely [Eon Productions‘] Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli’s first choice. I know they’re hoping for him to come back.”
Look, Craig just needs a break to recharge his batteries and work on something that doesn't involve tuxedos and shaken martinis. While he's got Steven Soderbergh's Logan Lucky filming now and Todd Field's Purity TV series coming up, it's clear producers are willing to wait until he's ready to return.
