Casey Affleck To Direct 'Light Of My Life', Karyn Kusama To Helm Horror Film 'Breed'

Since directing the "Joaquin Phoenix goes apeshit" mockumentary I'm Still Here, Casey Affleck has been attached to a handful of projects as his follow-up, none getting off the ground. Hopefully this next one will actually happen as he's agreed to direct survival drama Light of My Life, with pre-production to begin this fall. Affleck is pulling triple duty on this one as he wrote the script and will star as a father who is “hunted in a post-pandemic world" along with his young daughter. The next few months will be busy since Affleck is likely to be in the Oscars discussion for his role in Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester by the Sea. [Showbiz411]

Hot off the awesomely tense thriller The Invitation, Karyn Kusama is heading back to big studio territory for Breed. The 20th Century Fox film is based on Chase Novak's horror novel about a wealthy New York couple who turn to a controversial Eastern European fertility clinic to conceive when all conventional methods fail. Ten years later, the nightmarish side effects of the procedure begin to manifest for—and in—the couple and their twin children. Scott Frank (The Lookout) is producing with Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi having written the script. Let's just hope this turns out better than Kusama's other studio efforts, Aeon Flux and Jennifer's Body.
