Trailer teases suck and generally it's a good idea to pretend they don't exist. But when the movie is the long-developing sci-fi film Passengers and the stars Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence...well, you can't blame me for caving.
Directed by The Imitation Game's Morten Tyldum and penned by Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange), the film is an intergalactic love story about two passengers woken from cryo-sleep 90 years before their space journey is to be completed. So what are two people destined to live out the rest of their lives with only one another for company supposed to do? Fall in love, of course. Here's the synopsis:
On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.
There's a bit more to the story that may not put Pratt's character in the best light, but maybe we'll see some of that when the full trailer arrives tomorrow. Passengers opens December 21st, a month that is becoming prime annual real estate for Lawrence.
