First Look At Margot Robbie And Domhnall Gleeson In 'Winnie The Pooh' Author Film
When gauging the Oscars potential of Fox Searchlight's untitled A.A. Milne biopic, it can go one of two ways. Either it ends up like 2003's J.M Barrie film, Finding Neverland, which earned seven nominations including one for Johnny Depp's lead performance. Or it could be quickly forgotten like P.L. Travers (authors and their initials!) biopic Saving Mr. Banks, which only managed one for its musical score. Obviously the studio hopes its the former, and they're getting the buzz going early with some new photos right from the start of filming.
USA Today has debuted the first images from the movie, which stars Domhnall Gleeson as Winnie the Pooh author, A.A. Milne. Directed by Simon Curtis and previously titled Goodbye Christopher Robin, the film would center on the relationship between him and his son (Will Tilston), whose toys inspired Pooh, Eeyore, and the many characters of the 100 Acre Wood. Margot Robbie plays Milne's wife, Daphne, who gets swept up in the books' international success during the height of WWI. But with the eyes of the world suddenly on them, could there be a cost to the family?
Also starring Kelly MacDonald, Stephen Campbell Moore, Alex Lawther, Richard McCabe, Nico Mirallegro, Geraldine Somerville and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the film will almost certainly get an awards season date next year.
