John Krasinski Joins Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit Riots Ensemble

And just like that John Krasinski's career has become pretty unpredictable. The Office star began the year by growing a thick-ass beard and gunning people down in Michael Bay's 13 Hours, which he then parlayed into a role as Jack Ryan in the upcoming TV series. But in between all of that he also released his latest directorial effort, the charming family dramedy The Hollars, which saw him firmly back in "Aw shucks" mode. So what's next? How about the new hot-button drama from The Hurt Locker director, Kathryn Bigelow?

Krasinski has joined Bigelow and writer Mark Boal's Detroit riots film, which currently has John Boyega, Will Poulter, Hannah Murray, Jacob Latimore, Algee Smith, Ben O’Toole, Jack Reynor, Anthony Mackie, and Kaitlyn Dever starring. It's an ensemble piece centering on the racially-charged 5-day riots of 1967, so who knows how big anybody's role is. Boyega, for instance, is already wrapped on his role.

So it's another interesting move for Krasinski and I'll be curious to see how he fits into all of this.
