Jonathan Rhys Meyers Is The Clash's Joe Strummer In First 'London Town' Trailer

Music binds people together like nothing else. Well...except for maybe TV. But in the movies it's always music. More relationships have started in movies because of the love of a certain band than there are songs on your IPhone, and in the movie London Town the band in question is punk royalty, The Clash, with Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Joe Strummer.

Strummer's attitude and charisma helped inspire an entire generation of punk rock fans, and that seems to be the entire premise behind London Town. Daniel Huttlestone (Les Miserables) plays Shay, a quiet young boy  whose life is changed when he receives a tape of The Clash from his estranged mother. From that point on he goes full-on punk, meets a rebellious young girl (Nell Williams) who shares his taste in music, and gets some advice from Strummer himself.

Behind the camera is Derrick Borte, who I interviewed years ago when he directed The Joneses, a movie which has been sadly forgotten by far too many.

Co-starring Natascha McElhone and Dougray Scott with music by the Buzzcocks, the Stranglers, and more, London Town hits theaters and VOD on October 7th.
