Kristen Stewart Summons Ghosts In First Trailer For 'Personal Shopper'

The collaboration between director Olivier Assayas and Kristen Stewart has been a fruitful one for both, and should quiet those who think her career has slid backwards. It's simply not true; instead she's taken to working with some of the top international filmmakers on smaller projects, and the results are undeniable. Stewart earned the best reviews she's ever received for Assayas' Clouds of Sils Maria, which one the Palm d'Or at Cannes two years ago. The response to their latest, Personal Shopper, wasn't as clear but Assayas still split the Cannes Best Director award a few months ago.

So it's hard to gauge exactly how the film will actually turn out. Fortunately, the first teaser has arrived to give us something of an idea. Stewart plays an American woman who journeys to Paris with plans to communicate with her dead twin. She fancies herself a medium, but whether that's true or not remains to be seen. It's an odd premise, but the trailer suggests a Hitchcockian-style ghost story which could be interesting to see coming from these two.

Personal Shopper opens March 10th 2017.
