Paul Thomas Anderson And Daniel Day-Lewis' Fashion World Film Gets 2017 Release
We still don't know an awful lot about the new movie from Paul Thomas Anderson, but honestly does it matter? All we really need to know is that it will reteam him with There Will be Blood star Daniel Day-Lewis, and that should be enough to pack in the seats. Fortunately, we do have a little more information, and it's that we won't have to wait too long before it's in theaters.
Focus Features has won a bidding war for worldwide distribution rights to the film, which takes place in the 1950s fashion scene. Mr. "I drink your milkshake" chomping scenery about clothing lines and runway models? Yes please. The $35M picture should get shooting soon for a release timed for late 2017. What? During the awards season? Why, I'm shocked.
Any project by Anderson is worth getting excited over, even his failures (and I'd put Inherent Vice on that short list) are at least interesting. This has the potential to be great, and I'll be keeping an eye out for any details that emerge during TIFF. [Deadline]
