The 'Rules Don't Apply' In Trailer For Warren Beatty's Howard Hughes Film

Younger moviegoers may not have a clue who Warren Beatty is, sad as that may be. The Hollywood icon hasn't directed a movie in 18 years and hasn't been in front of the camera much, either. But he's coming back in a big way with his long-developing Howard Hughes film, Rules Don't Apply, in which he gets to direct and share screen time with a pair of rising stars in Alden Ehrenreich and Lily Collins.

Also featuring Alec Baldwin, Annette Bening, Haley Bennett, Candice Bergen, Matthew Broderick, Dabney Coleman, Steve Coogan, Taissa Farmiga, Ed Harris, Megan Hilty, Oliver Platt and Martin Sheen, the film follows a pair of young lovers who must hide their relationship from the reclusive, eccentric Hughes.  Here's the synopsis:

It’s Hollywood, 1958. Small town beauty queen and devout Baptist virgin Marla Mabrey (Collins), under contract to the infamous Howard Hughes (Beatty), arrives in Los Angeles. At the airport, she meets her driver Frank Forbes (Ehrenreich), who is engaged to be married to his 7th grade sweetheart and is a deeply religious Methodist. Their instant attraction not only puts their religious convictions to the test, but also defies Hughes’ #1 rule: no employee is allowed to have any relationship whatsoever with a contract actress. Hughes’ behavior intersects with Marla and Frank in very separate and unexpected ways, and as they are drawn deeper into his bizarre world, their values are challenged and their lives are changed.

Rules Don't Apply opens November 23rd.
