'Guardians Of The Galaxy' And 'Rogue One' Writers Working On 'Sherlock Holmes 3'
Robert Downey Jr. may have wanted to get Sherlock Holmes 3 off the ground this year, but clearly that isn't going to happen. When you're also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and things are gearing up for two new Avengers movies, everything else just has to wait. But the good detective's next adventure is happening, and now the film has a brand new crop of writers to help push things forward.
Warner Bros., Team Downey, and others have put together a writer's room to flesh out a story for the upcoming Sherlock Holmes sequel. The group consists of Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Geneva Dworet-Robertson (Tomb Raider), Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden), Justin Malen (Baywatch), and Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Downey will of course reprise his role as Sherlock Holmes, joined by Jude Law as Watson. Guy Ritchie, who directed the first two movies, should also return.
Writers rooms are generally put together to expand and build upon already-established franchises, just as Paramount has done with Transformers. If that's the case then this won't be the last Sherlock Holmes movie, not by a long shot. As for when it could finally shoot, it'll have to wait until RDJ is done with Avengers: Infinity War at the very least. [Variety]
