Tom Cruise Is Ageless In Biblical Epic, 'Methuselah'
At the ripe "old" age of 54 Tom Cruise is as active as ever. In fact, he's more active, taking on one death-defying stunt after another in the Mission: Impossible franchise and kicking ass in Jack Reacher. It's almost like the guy doesn't age. Well now he gets to play someone who really didn't age, as he's set to star in Warner Bros.' long-developing Biblical epic, Methuselah. No, really.
That's right, Cruise is set to star in the faith-based epic centered on the man who lived for 1000 years and never aged. He was played by Anthony Hopkins in Darren Aronofsky's Noah, which this will probably have a lot in common with in terms of scope and appeal, for better or worse. At the helm will be Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales co-director Joachim Rønning working from a script by Zach Dean (Deadfall).
This is expected to be a huge swords 'n sandals-style film, which is weird timing coming off the crappy Ben-Hur and lackluster box office it received. But for every failure like that there's a Noah or Exodus: Gods and Kings that may sputter domestically yet make a ton overseas, and Cruise certainly has international clout. [Deadline]
