Trailer For Ang Lee's 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk' Pushes The Realistic Visuals
When Peter Jackson unveiled the first of his 'Hobbit' movies using a new higher framerate, many found it to be an unnecessary distraction. Ang Lee thinks he's found a way to do it in a way that actually enhances the emotional impact of his war drama, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, and he's hoping the new technology he's employing will do for it what 3D did for Life of Pi.
The latest trailer for the film features a ton of quotes hyping the 120 FPS framerate, with at least one critic describing it as "revolutionary". The reviews out of NYFF weren't quite so glowing, however, and it remains to be seen if the film is just another "soldier comes home" drama or a Best Picture contender. Based on the Ben Fountain novel and starring newcomer Joe Alwyn, the film centers on the titular Iraq War soldier who returns home a hero, and takes part in a brief victory celebration that sparks flashbacks to all he endured.
Vin Diesel, Garrett Hedlund, Steve Martin, Chris Tucker and Kristen Stewart give the cast some much needed star power. Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk opens in limited release on November 11th before expanding a week later.
