FX's 'Y: The Last Man' Names Michael Green As Showrunner

We've known since last year that FX would be the home of a series based on Brian K. Vaughan's groundbreaking comic, Y: The Last Man, assuming it were to actually get made. Considering the off and on attempts at a movie over the years, it wasn't always a certainty. But it's indeed moving forward because now there's a showrunner, and an appropriately geek-friendly one in Michael Green.

Green will spearhead Y: The Last Man, which follows the adventures of Yorick Brown, an amateur magician, escape artist, and the only male to survive when a plague kills everyone with a Y chromosome. Along with his pet Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, they travel the globe avoiding various dangers (because women are dangerous) while trying to uncover the source of the plague.

The resume Green boasts is perfect for the pop culture-heavy series. He's currently a showrunner on the Starz adaptation of American Gods, and has penned screenplays for Green Lantern, Smallville, Logan, Heroes, Blade Runner 2049, and the upcoming remake of Murder On the Orient Express. [THR]
