James Franco To Direct Jane Levy And Shameik Moore In 'The Pretenders'
Whether acting or directing, James Franco always surrounds himself with talented ensembles, and he's definitely landed another one with his latest directorial effort. THR reports Franco will get behind the camera for The Pretenders, an '80s-set film written by The Fault In Our Stars director, Josh Boone.
Jane Levy (Don't Breathe), Shameik Moore (The Get Down), Jack Kilmer (Palo Alto), Juno Temple (The Brass Teapot), and Brian Cox (RED) will star in the film about best friends in 1980s New York, who fall in love with the same girl. The love triangle creates a special, decade-long relationship between them. So far there's nothing on Franco taking a role himself but that's what he usually does. Expect a cameo or something.
Boone's script has been kicking around Hollywood for a few years so it's good to see it finally moving forward.
