'The Crow' Remake Exits Relativity But Finds A New Home
At this point it's almost laughable the troubles endured trying to bring The Crow to screens once again. Set up at Relativity, which is only just emerging out of bankruptcy, the film has had multiple directors and multiple leading men attached over the years. Most recently it seemed there was some hope with director Corin Hardy and a star in Jason Momoa. Well, that's probably out because the film is now no longer even with Relativity. The good news is that it's not dead.
The Crow has now flown over to Davis Films, Highland Film Group, and Electric Shadow, who have renamed it The Crow Reborn. That's all we know about their attempt to adapt James O'Barr's iconic 1994 graphic novel about a spirit of vengeance that helps a man get revenge for his murder and that of his girlfriend.
The plan is to keep this version as faithful to O'Barr's comic as possible, which is still a good way to go. A 2017 start date had been set and that is apparently still the case but it's going to depend on whether Hardy, who has been on board since 2014, and the busy Momoa stick around. If not they may have to push it back until late next year. [THR]
