Lin-Manuel Miranda Would Play This Spidey Villain If He Joined The MCU
One of the cool/annoying things about the popularity of superhero movies is that every actor now gets asked what hero or villain they'd like to play. Can't go an interview without it, it seems, and apparently it was Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda's turn. To be fair, his choice is pretty inspired and I'd pay to see it happen.
On the Meet the Movie Press podcast, one of the guys mentioned an interview he did with Miranda in which the talented multi-hyphenate said he'd love to play the supervillain, Carnage. That's right, Spider-Man's other deadly symbiotic nemesis and big bad of the epic "Maximum Carnage" storyline, one of my favorites.
[Miranda] is a big fan of Marvel. And there is one particular character that he would actually like to play. It’s Carnage. He said if Disney and Marvel were looking at doing a Maximum Carnage movie or bringing Carnage in [the MCU] as a character, he wants to be Carnage. Genuinely as a fan, he would love to play Carnage. That’s a goal of his.
Something about the energetic Miranda makes me think he'd be perfect for the wildly unhinged Carnage. But hold your horses because this doesn't mean anything is actually happening. First of all, this is really second hand information so hard to gauge as factual. Marvel and Sony still need to get through Spider-Man: Homecoming and there's no guarantee they'd even use Carnage. And if they did, who's to say they'd pick Miranda? Granted, he's got some sway over there now thanks to his work on Moana, Mary Poppins Returns, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Maybe if he promised to do some Spidey music, too? [MCU Exchange]
