Michael Fassbender Enters The Animus In First 'Assassin's Creed' Clip

While much of the attention over the next few weeks will be fixed on the Oscar dramas, there are a couple of blockbusters waiting around the corner. The one that doesn't involve a Death Star is the video game adaptation, Assassin's Creed, and it remains a huge question mark.  The best-selling game continues to be hugely popular and the cast is spot-on with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, but will that translate to screen success?

The first clip has arrived and it shows Fassbender as Callum Lynch being forced into a machine called the Animus. The construct allows him to experience the genetic memories of a 15th-century ancestor who was part of a powerful secret society. It's a story that will ring true to fans of the game although it isn't based on any one in particular.

Directed by Justin Kurzel, Assassin's Creed opens December 21st.
