'Star Wars' Han Solo Spinoff Casts Emilia Clarke In Unknown Role

While she rose to fame for commanding dragons on HBO's Game of Thrones, becoming a pop culture fixture in the process, Emilia Clarke's big screen career has been a mixed bag. While she found some success in the summer weeper Me Before You, her first big franchise attempt was as Sarah Conner in Terminator Genisys, and we know how well that went. Whatever, because she's about to get a serious-ass promotion to the ultimate franchise of franchises, Star Wars.

Clarke has joined the young Han Solo spinoff alongside Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover. You know who those two are playing, Han Solo and his fellow rogue Lando Calrissian...so you're probably assuming Clarke HAS to be playing Princess Leia Organa, right, because they're sortof like a love triangle. Well, that's highly unlikely.  All we know about her role is that she'll meet both Han and his pal Chewbacca.

Regardless, that's a great young trio of stars and there may be more on the way.  Zoe Kravitz, Naomi Scott, and Tessa Thompson were said to be up for the female lead but it's unclear if that was the same role Clarke just won. We'll hopefully find out soon enough. Phil Lord and Chris Miller's untitled spinoff opens May 25th 2018. [StarWars.com]
