While the Comic-Con teaser for Marvel and Netflix's The Defenders mostly focused on the four heroes who would be banding together, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that it also made reference to a possible enemy. The footage closed out with a hand-shaped image, an obvious suggestion the ninja cabal known as The Hand would be returning. And now we have further evidence with the confirmation that Elodie Yung will be reprising her role as Elektra.
This isn't too much of a shock. Elektra was a major factor in Daredevil's second season, causing all kinds of sai-wielding trouble for Matt Murdock as she investigated The Hand's operation in Hell's Kitchen. While the season ended with her *SPOILER* dying in the final battle, death has always been a temporary condition for her.
Yung joins Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Simone Missick, Eka Darville, Carrie-Anne Moss, Rachael Taylor, Scott Glenn, Jessica Henwick, Rosario Dawson, and Sigourney Weaver as an unnamed villain. The Defenders hits Netflix in 2017 and runs for eight episodes. Would anybody be surprised if this appearance is used to set up her own series?
