Fear Is Back On Tape In The New Trailer For 'Rings'

Unless you're Jurassic World, brands revived after years on the shelf have not done so well. So what makes anyone think a twelve year hiatus will be good for the Ring franchise?  Well, horror movies are still popular no matter what, but even for them timing is everything. We'll find out just how popular this franchise is when Rings arrives next month.

Directed by F. Javier Gutierrez, with Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio starring, the cursed video tape is back, which is weird because we're living in the age of digital. You couldn't convince me to watch a VHS tape now if you paid me, but these kids are willing to risk their lives to do it. Go figure. Here's the synopsis:

A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…

Rings will haunt theaters on February 3rd.
