New 'Pirates Of The Caribbean 5' Trailer Keeps The Focus Off Jack Sparrow
You know Pirates of the Caribbean has been around a while because there's been enough time for a major character to be written off, and time for him to return. Joining Johnny Depp who of course is back in mascara as Jack Sparrow, is Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, the young blacksmith who was taken under Sparrow's wing in the first movie. He was also banished to a command of the Flying Dutchman at the end of 'At World's End', so it's not really clear how or why he's back for 'Dead Men Tell No Tales'.
The latest trailer doesn't answer any questions; it actually raises more. The biggest is "Why is Jack Sparrow not being featured"? There's a great deal of attention on new additions Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites, but ever since the first teaser there has been a distinct lack of Sparrow footage. Is this an anti-Depp thing or a deliberate effort to hide story details? I've never been a fan of this franchise and never will be, but I'm interested in the answer.
Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales opens May 26th.
