Anya Taylor-Joy & Maisie Williams Confirmed For X-Men Spinoff, 'New Mutants'

One of the first rumors regarding Josh Boone's New Mutants movie has now been made official. It was reported more than a year ago that Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy, who was red-hot following The Witch, were being sought for the X-Men spinoff. And now that story has been confirmed by THR.

As expected, Williams will take on the role of the shy, devout Rahne "Wolfsbane" Sinclair, who has the power to turn into a werewolf. Taylor-Joy will play Illyana "Magik" Rasputin, the teleporting sorceress who also happens to be the little sister of Colossus. Also part of the original story was the possible return of Alexandra Shipp as Storm, but no word  on if that'll actually happen.

Other characters expected to be part of the teen mutant squad are team leader Cannonball, Sunspot (who was seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past), Danielle Moonstar, and their techno-organic alien pal, Warlock. What, no Doug Ramsey? Come on.

Filming on New Mutants begins in July and should hit theaters on April 13th 2018.
