Crime Thriller 'Three Seconds' Revived With Clive Owen, Rosamund Pike, & More

Andrea Di Stefano, who directed the weirdest of the Pablo Escobar films with Escobar: Paradise Lost, has gathered an all-star cast for his followup, Three Seconds. Clive Owen, Rosamund Pike, Joel Kinnaman, and Common will star in the film, an adaptation of the bestselling Swedish novel by Anders Roslund and Börge Hellström.

A lot of talented writers have joined Di Stefano in tackling the script, including Matt Cook (Triple 9), Rowan Joffe (The American), and Alex Garland (Ex Machina). The story follows a reformed criminal and former special ops agent working undercover for the FBI to infiltrate the Polish mob's drug trade in New York. With freedom on the horizon, his final mission takes him back to the one place he never wanted to return, Bale Hill Prison, which becomes a race against time when a drug deal goes wrong and threatens to blow his cover.

If all of this sounds vaguely familiar, the project was previously developed for Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst, with David Oyelowo, Olivia Munn, Josh Brolin, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Luke Evans starring.

Here's hoping Di Stefano can add some of the same quirkiness that made Escobar: Paradise Lost stand out from a glut of similar movies.
