Mark Wahlberg, Oscar Isaac, & More Eyed For 'Bloodshot' Role
Landing the lead role in a superhero film can be a career changing gig, but more often than not studios start out by aiming for already established talent. Whether it stays that way...well, not always. Case in point, Sony and Valiant Entertainment are aiming super high for their long-developing take on Bloodshot, but we'll see if they land anybody on their wish list.
Oscar Isaac, James McAvoy, Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicholas Hoult and Mark Wahlberg are being sought for the film, which follows a nanobot-fueled super soldier, brought back to life but with no memory of his past. Basically he's like 99% of the new characters created in the '90s, and he even has one of those popular healing factors just like Wolverine and Deadpool. Sorry, I've never found Bloodshot to be a very interesting character, but maybe Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer can change my mind.
John Wick duo Chad Stahelski and David Leitch had been attached to direct it for a while, but a couple of months ago Dave Wilson, who has close ties to Deadpool director Tim Miller, took over. Doubtful that helps to convince anybody to sign on, but you never know. [TheWrap]
