Emma Stone & Steve Carell Are Aces In First 'Battle Of The Sexes' Trailer

What a perfect time for Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' Battle of the Sexes. As the new Women's Movement continues to build in the wake of our recent Presidential election, a film that chronicles a key moment in the feminist movement, the 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, should be a sure-fire winner. And that it stars recent Best Actress winner Emma Stone and her Crazy Stupid Love co-star Steve Carell is even better.

Here's the synopsis to go along with the debut trailer:  The 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) became the most watched televised sports event of all time. Trapped in the media glare, King and Riggs were on opposites sides of a binary argument, but off-court each was fighting more personal and complex battles. With her husband urging her to fight for equal pay, the private King was also struggling to come to terms with her own sexuality, while Riggs gambled his legacy and reputation in a bid to relive the glories of his past.

Also starring Sarah Silverman, Andrea Riseborough, Elisabeth Shue, Alan Cumming, and Eric Christian Olsen, Battle of the Sexes opens September 22nd.
