First 'Star Trek Discovery' Trailer Boldly Goes Into The Past

Every time a new Star Trek series launches I give it a shot. I don't usually stick with it for very long, but maybe Star Trek Discovery will change that. After nearly two years of delays and production troubles, with original showrunner Bryan Fuller exiting, the first trailer has finally been revealed, taking us back into the Federation's past.

Set 10 years before Kirk, Spock, and familiar Enterprise crew, the series is told from the perspective of First Officer Michael Burnham, played by The Walking Dead's Sonequa Martin-Green. This footage mostly focuses on her and even raises a few questions, primarily about her relationship to Sarek (James Frain), who is Spock's father. There's a scene that suggests she may be part Vulcan and even a part of the Spock family, which would be an interesting twist. We also get a look at the new uniforms, the Klingons, and plenty of deep space action. I'm mainly excited to see Michelle Yeoh on regular TV as Captain Philippa Georgiou.  Rainn Wilson, Jason Isaacs (not playing a villain!!), Doug Jones, and more co-star.

Star Trek Discovery debuts this fall on CBS before moving to digital on CBS All Access.
