Luca Gudagnino is riding a hot streak, and he isn't slowing down enough for it to cool. After last year's excellent A Bigger Splash, he hit Sundance this year with Call Me By Your Name, a film that already has people talking about an Oscar. And while he's currently wrapping up his Suspiria remake, Guadagnino is lining up some big names for his next film.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Benedict Cumberbatch are being sought for Guadagnino's upcoming thriller, which is still untitled and has a plot kept under wraps. What we know is that Steven Knight (Locke) will write the script, which is set in an exotic locale and follows two friends, a business titan and a journalist. A female lead fits into the story somewhere, too.
Not much to go on, but the talent is undeniable. Filming is being eyed for early next year. [Deadline]
