Kevin Feige Teases An Eventual Marvel Movie/TV Crossover

This summer Marvel fans will get Spider-Man: Homecoming, fulfilling one of the many "Holy Grail" they've had to see Spidey part of the MCU. But there are many more such projects that remain merely a twinkle in their eyes, like an X-Men/Avengers crossover. Good luck with that. Or, and this one should be considerably more attainable, a crossover between Marvel's TV and movie franchises.

Every once in a while Kevin Feige gets asked about it, and usually he brushes it off with some logistical or contractual reason why the likelihood is slim. But this time when io9 asked him about a TV character being 100% out of any movies he actually gave fans a reason to get a tiny bit excited...

“The future’s a long time. So, the truth is, I don’t really know, but there are a lot of TV shows being made, and hopefully we’ll continue to make a lot of movies. At some point, there’s going to be a crossover. Crossover, repetition, or something.”

So what does that mean? Well, think of it like this; Marvel already has Mike Colter starring in their Luke Cage series on Netflix. But if they want to use Luke Cage on the big screen they might go ahead and do that, but with a different actor than Colter.

And that is obviously a very disappointing answer since the actors playing these characters is part of the reason we love them. On the other hand, Feige isn't ruling anything out, either. It's clear there are no plans for anything to happen right now, and probably not for a long time, but we now have him on record that it will some day. For now we'll have to settle for the meager crossover we've already had, like Jaimie Alexander's Sif and Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill appearing on Agents of SHIELD.
