Netflix's current "revive any marginally popular TV show" business model really got off the ground in 2013 when they rushed in for a fourth season of Arrested Development. The cult favorite series had been off the air since 2006 after three beloved but low-rated seasons on Fox, but its status just continued to blow up as fans wanted more of the Bluth clan. But that fourth season, which rarely saw the full cast together, was met with mixed response, putting another season in doubt.
Don't worry, there's more money left in the banana stand. Jason Bateman tweeted on the "probable" return of Arrested Development for a fifth season.
Look very probable I'm going to put some miles on the Stair Car this summer. Just officially signed on to more ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT today.— Jason Bateman (@batemanjason) May 12, 2017
So while that's not really a hard and fast confirmation, if Bateman's on board then you can bet the cast and Netflix are too. Here's hoping they find a way to get everyone on the same page schedule-wise so this season doesn't fall victim to the problems of the last one.
