Zac Efron To Play Ted Bundy; Colin Firth Goes To 'Benjamin's Crossing'; 'Aquaman' Adds 'Power Rangers' Star Ludi Lin
Filed away under "Unexpected" comes the news that Zac Efron will play serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, an indie flick from Paradise Lost and Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 director, Joe Berliner. From a Black List script by Michael Werwie, the film “follows the dysfunctional relationship between Bundy and his long-time girlfriend Liz. Bundy, a killer and rapist of young girls and women who was notoriously charming, was executed in Florida in 1989.” Efron will be seen next in a very different non-homicidal sort of role in Baywatch, due out later this month. Colin Firth is rejoining his A Month in the Country director Pat O'Connor for Benjamin's Crossing, Firth will play German-Jewish cultural critic and philosopher Walter Benjamin. Jay Parini co-wrote the script based on his own novel, a fictional account of Benjamin's intriguing life up to 1940 when he was forced to flee Paris ahead of the Nazi invasion. [Deadline]
Power Rangers star Ludi Lin is giving up his Black Ranger outfit for fish scales. He's joining the stacked cast of Aquaman, taking on the role of Atlantean soldier, Murk, described by Deadline as “the leader of the front-line army of Atlantis known as the Men-of-War and Aquaman’s trusted ally.” In the comics he would go on to betray Aquaman and pledge allegiance to his brother, Orm, who he believed was the true leader of Atlantis. With Patrick Wilson already cast as Orm aka Ocean Master, expect to see Murk play a similar role, even if it's in a minor capacity. Directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, Willem Dafoe, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen, Aquaman opens December 21st 2018. [Deadline]
