First Look At Saoirse Ronan In Greta Gerwig's 'Lady Bird'

With the emotional investment she's made in virtually all of her movies, a path towards filmmaking has always been in Greta Gerwig's future. She's worked with a ton of directing auteurs, including Whit Stillman, Mia Hansen-Love, Todd Solondz, Mike Mills, Pablo Larrain, and of course Noah Baumbach, and has no doubt picked up a few tools of the trade. Sure, she co-directed Nights and Weekends with Joe Swanberg about a decade ago, but her solo debut, Lady Bird, is right around the corner and we've got the first look at it before it hits the fall festival circuit.

Saoirse Ronan and Roseanne's Laurie Metcalf, the latter in a rare major big screen role, star in this smallish drama about a Sacramento girl trying to escape the shadow of her mother. It's exactly the kind of film one would expect from Gerwig, and I can't wait to see how she incorporates all of her many influences.

Lady Bird will play NYFF and TIFF before opening on November 10th.
