Nicolas Cage Has A Twisted View Of Justice In Trailer For 'Vengeance: A Love Story'

Nicolas Cage movies always seem to pop up out of nowhere, catching me, and probably you, completely by surprise at their existence. And it's happened again with Cage's latest, Vengeance: A Love Story, which I had to dig through the archives to remember that it was originally going to be directed by him. Perhaps, since this rather rote looking thriller is based on a book by acclaimed author Joyce Carol Oates, Cage felt it was a better idea to hand the reins over to someone else.

Behind the camera is longtime second unit director Johnny Martin, with Don Johnson, Anna Hutchison, Talitha Bateman, and Deborah Kara Unger in supporting roles. Cage plays a Gulf War vet who goes seeking vengeance when a mother and her daughter are brutally assaulted, and the perpetrators aren't convicted.

This might end up being a solid little revenge tale considering the source material, but this trailer looks like it could have come from any of Cage's recent flicks. They're just so hard to tell apart. Also, I'm not sure the marketing department knows the difference between justice and vengeance. These are not the same things.

Vengeance: A Love Story hits theaters and VOD on September 15th.
