The Wachowskis to Take the Red & Blue Pill by Directing Superman??
So the BIG rumor of the last day has been that the Wachowski Brothers, yes them of The Matrix trilogy, V for Vendetta, and last year's Speed Racer, have been approached to possible reboot the Superman franchise. According to Ain't It Cool News, the Wachowskis were initially set to direct Plastic Man, but due to the stoppage of all comic book movies at WB they were forced to reevaluate things and go in a different direction. Previous Superman director Bryan Singer, perhaps realizing that he's got nothing to bring to that franchise after the awful Superman Returns, has since said he won't be a part of another Supes film.
This is interesting. The Wachowskis on a classic superhero could be just what Warner Bros. needs. I'm not sure how I feel about them perhaps turning it into a trilogy, since we've seen how they fared the last time they had total control of one of those, but they certainly got the chops to make Superman as exciting as it should be. What pisses me off though is the idea that Plastic Man has been shelved. I'm far more interested in him than I am Superman, and according to those in the know, Plastic Man was starting to look awesome. Although Plastic Man doesn't really fit with the noir model that they say the film was shaping up to be(that's much more like Elongated Man actually), the very idea of it has my curiosity piqued. Hopefully after this WB gridlock is over, Plastic Man will be pushed up on the schedule.
