30 Days of Night sequel Snags Kirshner
Maybe I'm the only one, but I really enjoyed 30 Days of Night. It's not perfect by any means, but I appreciated the bleak tone, plus it was nice to see vampires portrayed as killers rather than cool pale kids. The film didn't exactly burn up the box office, so I wasn't sure about a sequel. Luckily I needn't have worried.
Bloody Disgusting is reporting that a number of the cast has already signed on for roles in Steve Niles' gorey follow-up. Mia Kirshner(The L Word, The Black Dahlia) has signed on to play the lead villain, Lilith. Harold Perrineau(Oz, Lost, The Matrix movies), Rhys Coiro(Entourage), and Kiele Sanchez(A Perfect Getaway) round out an impressive group.
No word on whether or not Melissa George will be reprising her role as Stella Olemaun, ex-wife of Josh Hartnett's Eben Olemaun, hero of the last film. This version seems to be taking a bit of departure from the novelization follow-up, which focused on Stella's attempts to resurrect her dead husband. The film version appears to be a straight ahead revenge film, but that has yet to be confirmed at this point.
