No, not Anthony Hopkins. I'm talking the original Hannibal Lecter. Brian Cox(X2, Troy), who first played the fauva bean loving cannibal in 1986' Manhunter, is being whispered about to take on a major role in Guillermo Del Toro's adaptation of The Hobbit. While nothing is concrete at this time, rumors are that he's up for one of the many dwarf roles, possibly Thorin Oakenshield. The guy's Scottish, so he'll fit right in.
We'll of course dive right in once there's some actual confirmation, but I for one think this is a great decision. Cox has a habit of stealing every movie he's in, and yeah he can chew up some scenery but the guy character actor when called upon to be so.
