The Birth of the Guttenberg Scale for Movie Reviewing

We here at the Punch Drunk Critics have never really drifted out of the plain old 1-10 numbering system for our reviews...hell after a while we just did away with rating them at all and just let our reviews speak for our rating. As time went on we decided that maybe, just maybe we should adapt some manner of visual representation for how we felt about a movie. Inspiration came immediately and the answer was clear. We would name our scale in the honor of one of cinema's all time thespians, a true master of his craft.....Mr. Steve Guttenberg. That's right the same man who brought us such wondrous adventures as 'Police Academy 1-4', 'Short Circuit' and 'Three Men and a Baby' ,and probably something else after 1990, will now be bringing you our ratings!! Here's how the scale works:

0 Guttenbergs: Avoid this movie completely. We mean it, not in theaters, not as a rental, and NO not even on TV. This film is a complete piece of trash that we we're made dumber for having watched.

1 Guttenbergs: While we can not recommend this movie to you on any level, if you feel you must watch it do so only on TV. Also, only to be viewed if there is NOTHING else to do.

2 Guttenbergs: This one is a rental. It is in no way worth ten bucks a person and should only be viewed at home for half the price. That being said it is still somewhat watchable and you may enjoy it.

3 Guttenbergs: By no means a classic, this rating is reserved for movies you should see in a matinee. The theater experience is good for it, however you don't want to pay full price. A forgettable if possibly fun movie.

4 Guttenbergs: Fully worth the price of admission. This movie is thoroughly entertaining, and you will not be disappointed!

5 Guttenbergs: Creme de la Creme. This movie should be seen immediatley and repeatidly. You'll be talking about this one for months. Movies like this are the reason to love the cinema!
