Thanks to the guys over at /film and the many contributors who reported from SXSW we have early word on the latest SNL skit turned movie 'MacGruber'. I don't imagine anyone had this flick down as the next big thing in comedy but to be honest the trailer made me laugh so my hopes were higher than would be usual for a movie like this. Well it looks like we'll get exactly what we were expecting if these reviews are on target. The basic consensus is that it's a stupid movie that executes perfectly and delivers some damn good laughs along the way. Some were even going so far as to say it was the best SNL adapt since 'Wayne's World', not really to hard if you consider that between now and Wayne's World has been 'Superstar', 'A Night at the Roxbury' and countless other one note jokes turned into screenplays. Even still after reading the reactions from the SXSW (which I have GOT to go to next year) premier I'm a little bit stoked. As a consistent fan of low rent comedies like the aforementioned 'A Night at the Roxbury' I can definitely see myself enjoying this one. If you haven't yet seen the trailer check it out below.
