THE Final Destination? Not so Much.
Last year, the fourth and supposedly final film in the Final Destination series was released. Pushed as the last film in the franchise, it was the highest grossing of the bunch raking in over $185M worldwide and was #1 here in the States for two weeks. After that level of success, was this really going to be the end?
Um, no.
WB head honcho confirmed at the ShoWest convention that a 5th film is in the works. It's still a little too early for any more information than that, but the fact that it's happening at all is enough to keep me awake tonight. The last film was by far the worst of them all. Final Destination has always walked a thin line between horror and horror campy. Last year it didn't just cross the line, it jumped over it like Carl Lewis. I hope they reconsider, but if not at least hand the writing reigns over to someone halfway decent.
